Let it snow ...
« on: 20 December 2010, 14:01 »
Hi All

Long time no speak - what have I missed

Right, apologies if I'm repeating previous topics ...

Had some trouble today on compacted snow, trying to go up a slight hill. Was in a queue of traffic, those ahead and behind me could manage fine, I had to pull off to the side and find an alternative route.

Should I have switched the ESP off? I've got an Ed30 with DSG, standard Continental SportContact3 tyres.

Cheers

Martin

Actually my name was changed by a drunken moderator one night.  I had nothing to do with it.
There is only one solution to the no grip in snow problem, and that is to buy winter tyres.
Currently digging a bunker.

Id leave it on, I imagine its harder to move away slowly and with control (well, as much control as you can have on ice lol) in DSG as you have no clutch control?

ESP OFF works better for me with a snowy incline. (I'm a DSG boy too) - Otherwise the ESP will totally cut power to the wheels, and you'll go nowhere

I've a sneaky suspicion it says so in the manual too.  :undecided:
