« on: 19 December 2010, 23:54 »
quick question i have a full conversion from a mk2 golf that has just been crashed at the back and just needs reshelling. just a thought but what would be involved to fit a mk1 shell instead? is there much work involved? cheers

Wiring, engine mounts, fuel tank, front susp as the mk1 is on a subframe whilst a mk1 is not plus much more.

Major work.

You could get the mk2 engine working in the mk1 all ok but the rest of the car would be a ballache.
