The vredestein are quieter than the BRIDGESTONES

Winter tyres in general are often more noisy.

Have been reading some interesting reviews and tests in North American rags regarding the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3s.

They are considered to be in-between an all-season and cold weather tyre. They tested them as V rated. Mine are W rated. They are excellent for handling and grip on dry and wet pavements and effective all year round except for those odd very hot days when temperatures go above 25 deg C. They are effective in light snow conditions but not in heavy snow situations and thick ice. They are considered to be THE high performance cold weather tyre.

So they seem appropriate for the weather conditions in London.

I'll report my findings as soon as I have them fitted. I might also be the first to have bought these on this forum.

Can't wait!

Are you going to keep them on all year?  It sounds like a reasonable course of action.

Rolfe.

I have now read that Bridgestone have brought out an all weather tyre the A100.

Supposed to be fine on snow, ice wet and obviously a decent summer set up, guess might be the way for some of you to go if you didn't want two sets of tyres.

More than happy with mine and being as it has snowed all morning and we now have 4 inches of lying fresh snow will no doubt be putting them to good use in the next few days.

Rolfe:

Dare I say it? You read my thoughts. Some users in the USA have left them on all year round! Two drivers changed from Michelin PS2 summers to these and preferred them overall. One was driving an Audi RS4 and the other a BMW 540i Estate. Most of them have remarked on their quietness. They also felt that handling was not obviously affected.

I'll have to 'suck it and see'. It is a process that might be interesting but is proving very expensive. Madness.

In the thick of Christmas shopping so using the Blackberry. Was so stressed in the M&S car park on the King's Road, Chelsea. Cars so closely parked. Nightmare. Nearly all done now.

Merry Christmas to you and a Happy New Year.

I was about demented in the M&S car park at Straiton, but fortunately got a space despite several spaces being out of action due to piled up snow.  And got everything I really needed in M&S including the cat's preferred brand of noms, so didn't have to go anywhere else.  All I need now is for the screenwash to thaw, but that's not gonna happen, hasn't happened for a couple of weeks.  -10oC this morning at 9am.

Hello!

Too late for me. Done all my spending. More wheels and tyres that I can cope with!

As it is my thread I'll really go off topic!

Was short chaned by M&S by £50. They have accepted their mistake.

Only realised this when I went to pay for petrol at Total.

A Very Merry Christmas to you to my dearest. Wish I was closer to you in distance so that we could provide each other with unbridled Christmas cheer. But, as they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

Bonnie and Wolfgang would also have such a good time, though Bonnie will be much more stable in snow and would have to take Wolfgang under her wing.

Which means you consider your summers to be noisier than your winters?

Merry Christmas Geoff.
Hope you have a wonderful time and thanks for all your help and support.
