I'm actually quite speechless right now... what the feck is a battle mat!?

It's a matt, on which you move the little metal figures around in a simulated battle.

A mate of mine paints these silly little figures as a side-line.  Makes several thousand a year from doing it.  Beautifully illustrates the maxim about fools being easily parted from things...
