Got a tiny leak and some of hoses have gone hard.? Whats the best replacement,? Samco stuff seems a bit steep at over ?100, is it just better to get VAG stuff?? Is it all still available? What sort of cost?? Who else makes hose kits?

This sounds strange, but try rubbing old brake fluid on the perished hoses, apparently it feeds the rubber and brings em up like new!

you can get all of the coolant hoses from GSF
you can even get that metal pipe that runs up the side of the block from there. Was well impressed when i found that out as VAG wanted some stupid money for that......
P.S you can even get a new header tank from there for ?14. i changed mine and i actually know how much water is in my header now
