didn't spend too long farting about with the DSLR as I didn't want to lug a tripod about all day and it was friggin freezing!!  :laugh:

This is really good, great tone and framing!

thank you... it was one of those shotes where we walked round the corner and just went 'oh WOW, look at that!'... the framing was a nice gift by the architect :)

the trouble with most of the shots esp the b/w ones are that they were taken in very very low light conditions so keeping the camera still was difficult without a tripod or else I would have a lot more!

get a gorillapod or monopod, I've got a gorilla pod with a ball head on; very light and fits easily into a small bag, downsize is you're limited on the camera height; monopod will give you stability and height but not as flexible as the gorillapod or put a Manfrotto 190Cx down on the xmas list  :laugh:

my normal tripod is a manfrotto with a ball head... but not a CF one! :/

I use a gorilla pod for the compact which is what the night time shots were taken with... they are very good.

tbh if I had the time and was on my own or with another photographer then I would have no problem taking the normal tripod out with me as it is so versatile, but keeping someone waiting about in the cold isnt fair

plenty more cities to visit though :)

to be fair it was mostly just very cold!!  :grin:
