just had my cambelt water pump done, now i thought i was getting a good deal but im not sure ?

got all the parts from tps- water pump, thermostat and o ring, cambelt kit and every service part going all filters oil plugs etc all this came to £190

mechanic (family friend/adopted uncle) charged me  £ 211.50............to just do the cam belt and water pump (doing the service myself)

total 401 quid odd........just seems alot to me as vw said £299 to supply and it cam belt an water pump...... :angry:

Excluding the service parts (oil, filters and plugs) its not far off so not much of a deal  :undecided:

I had a water pump and cambelt done on my old 1.8t last in march 09 at a vw specialist. Supply and fit all the parts came to £250.
Least you will have warm ankles this winter! :grin:

I had a mate - do a head gasket, replace 8 bent valves, and obviously the water pump & cambelt, tentioner etc for £150 + parts as already said - not much of a family friend!!

your in coventry, you should of tried the vw specialist place on the longford road where the old yes car credit was, £185 all inc  :wink:, great guys aswell they realy know there stuff.

It was done by them, back when they were still in bulkington. Included a full coolant change as well.
Used them a few times more for the v5 since.

theyve obviously dropped there prices then , how u find there service? they do a complimentary thing now where if you take your car to them for quote's on work they give you a free mini valet  :wink:
