air induction fitment
« on: 09 December 2010, 10:45 »
ok all received my induction kit today but kind of struggling abit to fit it,

from pic below how does the intake pipe connect to maf as intake pipe is circular and intake pipe on car is oval! see red arrow,

also when i remove the airbox im left with another sensor screwed into the box with 2 connectors each side! see circle, do i need this?

When you remove the maf from the air box it will be round. The piece your arrow is pointing at is just the flange and is shaped to allow the screws to fit either side.
Not sure what the other sensor/connection is as not had that on my current or previous mk4's.

the other one is the ignition amplifier which you certainly need... you'd need to mount that somewhere else, sure it's been done countless times....

I'd just get a panel filter (which I have) but, i'm sure you'll figure it out.

Yeah gunner is correct, the ignition amp is found on AGU's - it was done away with on later AUM's and AUQ's but they have the techy coilpack issues instead!

Just remove it from the airbox and mount it nearby - i think i've even see people zip tie it round the CAI intake pipe lol!

Thats what I did, just tied it round the pipe, not mounted, just wrapped. Never had any problems

Try and keep ignition amplifier cold as possible, will cause running problems otherwise.
