It's definatley better looking than the 310. But I wish there was a way of changing the colour of the buttons, and customising it a bit more. It's a bit Fisher Price looking graphically if you know what I mean (should be called Fisher Price "My First Little Car Stereo"), but it's better than the alternative...ie the 310!! The navigating through an iPod is quite slow, especially if you have thousands of tracks, but Im not sure it'd be any different on any of the models really.

I would go for a retro fit RNS 510, unless DAB is a must for you. Ditch the RCD 310 as it really does the interior look no favours.

Cruise control is quite a pricey option and I believe is a bit cheaper to do as a retrofit later on.

If you didn't have DAB, I would have also suggested the rear view camera as its one of the best options I've chosen!!

... really? It just looked like a gimmick. Is the camera that good?

I had tried the touch screen radio in the MK6 GT TDI 140 I took for a test drive. I agree about the graphics. I also found it very unresponsive. Maybe they have gotten better?

I have been reading more about the DAB switch over in 2015. Maybe I am meeting trouble half way there. It looks like the the whole DAB thing is not a done deal yet. Could even be DAB+ by then which would make any current DAB radio redundant. :undecided:

Thanks for all the replies. Lots of food for thought.

What model are you referring to as you can change the colour set up of the RNS510?

STD radio looks very very dated in the MK6

Get the upgrade, Bluetooth & camera mate :-)

I read all the post here and had a look on youtube. Then spoke to my dealer and changed my order. Now getting an RCD 510, rear camera and colour multi-function display. The retail price is now over £30K. As a lot of people have commented - that is a lot of money for a golf. Good job I like golfs

Thanks for all the advice.
