URGENT! Not a golf but still German!?!!??!

Right i bought a 318 the other week proper bargain, or so i thought! Went to start it today and the battery was flat. Jumped it and it was squeeling its brains out.

Jumped out ran around to see the belt conected to the fan not moving. Then moving but not freely or regularly. BMW site isnt overly helpful as it isnt the most active. Just wondered if anyone on here could help? I think its because my coolant is frozen that the water pump wasnt working causing it/? Anyone got any ideas?

If any of the pulleys aren't turning then the bearing has gone.
You said the water pump is not turning freely, well its time for a new pump.
And i do hope you have got antifreeze in the system.

frozen coolant will stop the water pump spinning, the belt will ether squeal or snap.

squeeze a hose and see if it's solid if it is i suggest going and looking for a new car  you will be very very lucky if it dosent need at least 1 part thats ether expensive or nigh on inpossible to get at usally it's multipul expensive and inacsesable parts.

frozen coolant! Only had it 2 weeks and not driven it at all. Am going to defrost it tomorrow. Belt is fine, pump seems fine aswell so all ok!
