DONT BUY CHEAP ONES they're sh!t

I bought 2 from GSF they lasted a month!!!! bought 2 from vw for 3 x's the price and they been on a over a year and half

A spilt CV boot shouldnt cause a knocking sound its only rubber

would this cause a knocking when turning and putting pedal down noticed it when in the snow and wheels spinning does any one no if it is a failure on a mot cheers gordon

It will fail an MOT

Only if the CV boot is leaking or split will it fail and MOT.   The tester needs to pinpoint the knocking, if he cannot replicate the knock during the shaker plate test or the old rock method then he cannot failt the car.

By the sounds of it your knock could be the bottom arm bushes, which is an easy find for any MOT tester and a fail.

I was under the impression it was split why else would you replace it?
