engine
« on: 06 December 2010, 16:37 »
Hello all. Right time to make myself sound really stupid. The thing is I'm quite sure my mk4 is a 1.8 n/a gti and my insurance say the same based on the registration, now here is the stupid part the guy I bought the car off is adamant that its a 1.8t gti and he had the car for 2 years and says his insurance always said it was a turbo based on the registration.
How can I check this considering I know very little about cars.

Cheers

Service book, spare wheel well or tag on the engine block

AGN = non-turbo

Or look at the engine, look at the back of it and see if there's a turbo like device fitted

take a picture of the engine and post it up, it may have had an engine swap.

Its a AGN....just been out and looked at both the spare wheel well and the engine. Part of me is quite happy to be right but i have to say another part is a little gutted lol. Thanks to both of you for the quick replies, also thanks to you guys getting back to me quickly and going out to the car i still have a rear badge as some little sh!t was trying to have it off as i went out  :sad:. I didnt catch the sh!t and the badge was hanging off so badly i have had to pull it off  :sad:.

Cheers

sounds like a good excuse to split the badge in half and colour code the black plastic bit, really tidies the rear end up :afro:
