Nearly new or Nice spec?
« on: 02 December 2010, 22:56 »
Hi gents, I am looking to get a GTI, I have two cars to look at both DSG.

One is a 10 plate, low miles but pretty standard
The other is 09 plate, less than average miles but with extra's like - Leather, rear camera, touch screen radio.

My gut feel is the 09 plate but would appreciate the views of you guys in the forum.

Thanks

Might be worth bearing in mind that the RCD 510 and rear cam can be retrofitted and the leather in the golf has various opinions on this forum, i personally went for standard cloth trim and am very happy. The touchscreen upgrade is well worth it if the price is right and i wouldn't be without my camera now, i think i'd prob go With the 10 plate tbh and have the cam and stereo fitted after.

Thanks for the advice, I wasnt aware that you can retro fit the touch screen radio.  Any idea how much the radio is?  As for the leather, that's not important as I have it in my current A3 and I never get in and think wow, leather!

I am also suprised about the reversing camera being retro too, I assume i'd have to get one already with parking sensors though for this to work?

Cheers,

The RCD 510 is £915 from VW.
The Jacara cloth seats look and feel great and add a special touch to the interior IMO; as you say, don't worry about leather.
When you say the 10 plate is basic, what extras does it have if any?

No mate you dont need parking sensors for the rear camera, and as for leather i am more than happy with the cloth, i would go for the newer car and retrofit other bits and bobs, unless you get a really good deal on the 09 plate

RCD510 can be had for around £350, but why not go the whole hog and get a RNS 510, and camera retro fitted for around £1000, or in stages,

£600 buys the latest RNS 510, and around £350 ish buys the rear camera.  Both are very easy to fit, camera takes about 2hrs, or just about 80 mins if Steve and myself are on song.

RNS takes minutes.  I

f you do decide to Retrofit an RCD 510, make sure it has a TV in port in the rear, not all do, you will need it should you decide to fit the rear camera.

Oh and go for the newer car.
