Vw key problems
« on: 02 December 2010, 21:09 »
Hi

**Basicly Both keys Un-synced, need a way to sync**

Ive got a mk5  golf and the clock on the display wasnt working so replaced the interior control fuse and whilst doing so i took the wrong fuse out at first (left hand drive diagram in the manual, mines right hand drive so the dash fuse panel was mirrored ) not sure if i took out a central locking fuse or what but niether of the keys work now.
Immobiliser is still fine just no central locking :S guessing the sync a key trick isnt working because both keys are out of sync? tried it where one key is in ignition and the other is in the barrel lock ect... VW want £50 for the labour intensive job of plugging it in their machine and wont do that unless they can confirm it isnt working by plugging it in a diagnostics kit!!! i assured them it didnt work but they needed more proof so im stuck, dont wanna pay, dont wanna let them win any ideas guys? dont fancy messing about with the key as it still disables the immobilser atm, batterys are fine aswell, red light when i press a button
Thanks in advance

Tom

You need to do a diagnostic check & find display the faults. Might be a simple reset.

(I would disconnect battery for 30 mins then reconnect)

You will get new errors but might fix your originals.

You don't give your location but somebody with a VCDS would be willing to help you.
