Mechatronics replacement needed?
« on: 02 December 2010, 08:24 »
Hi,
Just took the car in for its 2 year service. I mentioned that the DSG gearbox didn't seem to be as smooth as in my previous GTI. Nothing serious, just a bit jumpy at low speeds. Computer analysis showed no errors, but VW said they had their own advisory for '08 cars like mine. So they want to replace the mechatronics unit under warranty.
I've read a lot of threads dealing with this and some are positive and some are negative. So, does it really sound like I need a new mechatronics unit, and is there any downside for me if I let them go ahead with it?

Snakey

Let them do it if it's under warranty...
Without traction power is nothing!

Yep,
Get it done mine went faulty at 12 months and they cost a packet when out of warranty.
Luckly mine was still in warranty
Also make sure they change the oil and filter on the dsg box

Thanks guys. Saw some reports that replacing it made things worse so I was being cautious.
