Welcome Scotsgolfer.

Snow! what snow! very little down my way, DSG is coping admirably in the icy conditions. Thing is, planning to drive to Aberdeen tomorrow, so we shall see how that goes.

Gaz, can you let me know how the drive up is?
I am planning on going to Fife, from Aberdeen, on Saturday...and rumours are the road by Stonehaven isn't good.
If you get up OK, I'll be fine going the other way.
Cheers...

Glen,

No probs, i think it is around Forfar where the problems have been. (check out traffic scotland website where you can check all the traffic cams)
I don't know if I can get internet access at the hotel where I am staying, but I can get my son to drop a note on the forum.

I'm in Dunfermline in Fife and we've 14 inches here.  Went foraging on foot today to get some much needed supplies and looks like there's plenty of black or grey tarmac out there on the busier roads.  My main problem is the estate I live in - hilly and not gritted grrrrr.

It hasn't snowed here today and I spent the afternoon digging out a small part of the driveway.  I can now move 1.5m back and 1.5m forward - progress then eh!!!

Also just pulled the trigger on some Autosocks as well, although no idea when I might get them as no post the last few days.  Hopefully they'll help get me up the hill once the thaw starts.

Glen... one of our drivers was down to Grangemouth and back today from Aberdeen,
He said that the majority of the roads were fine, but there were the odd stretches that were a bit slidey.
The Bridge of Muchals was a bit dodgy first thing in the morning on the way down, but by the time he got back at about 4pm it was ok.

You should be fine

Cheers Pete...I'll give it a bash.
Should be OK - a long as the road isn't closed by plod, and that would need lots of snow tonight.
I'll check for fresh snow in the morning and go from there.

Interesting. This is a whole new area of the thermometer you've only read about in books!
