temp gauge fault help/ideas ?

 hi, my temp gauge only seems to be going half way to 90? i have done a search about the sensors etc.....just didnt wanna go replacing random bits, thought it best to ask you guys  on here first. Oh and btw its only been since we started getting cold weather and i DO have anti freeze in.  :undecided:

does it ever get to 90?

two main suspects are temp sender or the thermostat

you can use VAGCOM to log the temp sensor or identify a fault with that.  If that comes back all clear then its your thermostat

Mine did it last week changed the thermostat works fine now sits bang on 90 all the time.. :smiley:

it did wen it wasnt this cold but now it never does cheers for the help would these cause bad mpg coz thas wa i been gettin awell :cry:

Yep as the car thinks its cold so chucks in more fuel to compensate

mine was about a tenner i think, not too bad and a couple of hours to fit it.. :wink:
