Jerky engine at cruise speed
« on: 30 November 2010, 21:17 »
Hi guys, ive now got a MK5 Golf GT TDI 140, and i do love the car.
The one thing thats concerning me though is that sometimes at cruise speed (say 30mph, 4th gear, feathering the revs) the car sort of kangaroos, jerks back and forth, like im on off on off with the revs... but im not. Its so annoying.
Also, when i start the car, the engine stutters for a few seconds before settling to idle, its fine once its there but it just sort of hicupps a few times first. This tells me somethings just a bit wrong.

Mechanic scanned it and no faults occured. Nothing looks out of the norm so wondered if anybody had any ideas.
Ive done a search and a few people mention this on the DSGs, but mines a manual 6 speed.
cheers

If it recently started happening, the startup issue could be due to the cold weather.

Sorry can't really help more then that.

Could be down to a glow plug fault or more likely a worn injector leaking.

Had and A3 with the same motor in manual and in a really high gear and low revs would do the same
so dont  really think its a problem just use the next gear down with a few more revs

hmm well its been like it since i bought it in the summer, so not the weather.

Other than an injector or something i dont think it could be much all else.

Cheers for your thoughts though guys  :nerd:
