dash lights

any ideas on why the lights have gone on the inside of my dash where the speedo is???
its not the fuse or the bulbs as far as i can see, its also taken out the heater switch lights to if thats any help, cheers
p.s oh yeah its a mk 2 1600 driva

Probably have to take the dash off to have a look, that is if it isn't a blown fuse.

have read the hatnes book of lies and i think its fuse 16, have replaced it with a new one, no joy
checked all other fuses all seem ok
yet still no lights

Its not the fuse or bulbs as far as I can see,  Well your not gonna see much with the dash cluster in place, Its not unknown for the lights to fail at the same time so you have a few bulbs out as they are all the same age.

Take the speedo cluster out then at least you know your not wasting your time with fuses and wires when its a simple bulb blown fault.

so would the lights blowing on the dash also take out the light on the heater section too??
When i get chance i will take it all out and have a look

Its rare but can happen. Sounds silly but you have got the rheostat on the light switch turned up ?

I would like to check the bulbs in my 16v dashboard - the left hand side illumination is 'out' so I think probably the bulb(s) has gone. Can anyone decribe to me in simple detail how to remove the instrument cluster to change the bulbs? - it looks a bit daunting/fiddly and not at all straightforward to change the bulbs ? kind regards, yt

Its a pain in the arse. Get a haynes manual might help.

Not really mate. You're just gonna have take every screw out you can see, and look for blanking plates that hide hidden screws. Can't really give you a step by step guide.
