I've noticed looking at a few mk4's, that the traction control button has ESP written on it - i know this means Electronic Stability Program. However, my button has ASR written on it. Whats the difference between the two?

Also, noticed the exhaust emission warning lamp has check written underneath it, which is different to other 1.8T's i've seen. Did these changes happen over time of the gti being produced?

I've checked the manual i have, and it doesn't mention anything about ASR, and the diagram of the display of the exhaust emissions light is different too.

Just find it a bit odd i haven't seen any others like it to be honest with you.

ASR is less sophisticated - basically if it detects a wheel slipping all it does is cut / limit the power from the engine

so if ESP is crap, then my ASR must be either alot worse, or better because its not trying to be sophisticated? depending on which way you look at it  :laugh:  :tongue:
