Thinking about buying an induction kit...

Morning all.

So as the title says, Im looking to buy an induction kit, something that gives both a power increase and a sound upgrade, but leaning more towards the sound.

Ive seen this pipercross one on Awesome's site http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=23268 which doesnt look like a bad price after some hunting around the net.

I dont want to spend a bomb, so i guess the EVOMs and Fordges are out, but any advice or suggestions would be great!

Well to get an induction kit?
My son has a Golf as i do. He got an induction kit for the sound/slight power increase. Paid about £200. Made the car run terribly and he took it off. It sits in our garage.....used for about 2/3 months. Money wasted.

The car is a MK4 1.4 though!..........he's only 18...........its For Sale £80....Typhoon

I would say that being 47 i've bin there done that. Do not put a induction kit on unless you are going to tune the engine to take account of more air getting in. Just to put on a kit for noise is a waste of money.

The one on my old MK3 VR6 was great though

If your limiting your budget to £200 and you want that sound then I'd have thought thats the one to get, bare in mind your car wont sound like the one in the video. Ive got this one http://www.awesome-gti.co.uk/product.php?xProd=5713&xSec=151 which not only lets you keep your engine cover on but imo looks better, you wont get that sound though.

How does the sound change with this one, if at all?

The one I have doesnt really change it much at all to be honest, you do get a bit more of a "sucking" noise but not much. Ive had it in so long now I forgot what it sounded like before

If you want your car to sound nice you cant beat a Milltek which is what dominates my car soundtrack.

Cheers Alan, I've seen this one banded about quite a bit, but I'm still not sure if its what I'm looking for.

Any chance you (or anyone else with this filter) could take a bit of vid or a sound clip or what it sounds like? Dont worry if its too much hassle.

this is another one forge do... i got this about 5 months ago and it gives a fairly loud induction noise but from the turbo i.e. sucking. Matched with the forge up rated dv its great.... the reason why you cant get that noise like the fiesta is because the induction noise has to cover half a mile before getting to the source of inlet with having the turbo intercooler and pipes and so on. also depends on the design of the manifold. Its more a loud sucking noise followed by a loud dump of air by the dv... ill video mine tomorrow and try get a clip up for you......

this is another one forge do... i got this about 5 months ago and it gives a fairly loud induction noise but from the turbo i.e. sucking. Matched with the forge up rated dv its great.... the reason why you cant get that noise like the fiesta is because the induction noise has to cover half a mile before getting to the source of inlet with having the turbo intercooler and pipes and so on. also depends on the design of the manifold. yea its what iv got fitted. still a quality product from forge but not as expensive as the twintake. i was shocked with how loud it was when i fitted it but have not looked back since .....

nice bit of bling for the engine bay to 

downsides :

sits behind the passenger side front fog light and the noise it makes sounds like its sucking the road clean ha but iv drove it in very very very wet conditions and its being fine so no problems..

cant have oem engine cover on with it but yet again im not bothered by that...

Is it a Forge? it doesnt mention it on the site  either way, its sounds like it is just what I am looking for.

Im not fussed about losing the OEM engine cover, and even if it does start to bug me, there are a few covers that I can get.

Hows that vid coming along Trick... I'm thinking about booking the car in to get the cam belt and water bottle done this weekend, so I might get the induction kit at the same time if the sound is right
