Mk3 1.4CL - how to change thermostat

Hi,

can anyone tell me or show me (pic) how to change my thermostat please

and is it as easy as - take old one out & put new one in.

was hoping to get  it sorted today so my heaters give me a bit of warm air on my trip to work in the morning  :grin:

Ahh.

You'll see a thick pipe running from the rad to a fairly large flange with two 10mm bolts IIRC.

Undo those, pop the thermostat and gasket out and replace.

Simple job. :afro:

Remember to drain the coolant first. Some more coolant will be left around the thermostat housing which will spill out, but not much.
Not low enough mk5
Not on the road enough mk3

nah just sticjk a jug or summat under the flange, you'll loose a bit of coolant but not much since its pretty much the highest point. take the cap off and refit before you start to release any pressure, and do it when engien is cold
