CUP HOLDERS
« on: 27 November 2010, 13:26 »
Hey guys, right today i got myself a different cup holder to the one i have already, i think its a newer styled one. However after trying to put new one in which is a couple of millimeter thicker it wudnt work properly, like the black press part that opens the holder wasnt wanting to work and using a flathead screwdriver to open it it then worked but still wont open with a push. The old one works fine but i fancied this newer type as it looks better and does the job better i think. Pics below.. so if any of u have any reasons why this aint gona work maybe model, spec, year etc let me know.

Pic of my center dash, dont know if its the cd player or wat thats stopping this...

One thats fitted now...

The one i want to replace with...

the one you want to replace it with, while it isnt in the car, try and operate it, couldnt imagine anything being any different to when its in the car as isnt it all in a case therefore nothing (ie. wires from headunit ect.) can block it.

so proberbly a faulty one? maybe something has slipped inside it and is causing it to jam ect.??

seens as you got it from a scrap yard, you cant take it back to get it replace ect, why not try opening it up, something might have broke when you were removing it or fitting it, something might have got in and got jammed ect.?

Yeah i had a wee look, it is easy to remove as its just a metal clip either side of it. You probs know this already but yeh i took it out in working order so dont know why its doing this. I dunno if its maybe my VW CD Player thats maybe pushing it up a little. Hmm what a weird and wonderful car ive got haha.
