280mm hubs ABS sensors
« on: 27 November 2010, 12:48 »
Picked up a pair of 280mm brakes inc hubs wishbones etc as they had new wheel bearings fitted to them.

The hub has the ABS sensor fitted, not going to try and retrofit ABS but had a couple of questions.

1. I will have to remove the ABS sensor for MOT because if it's fitted it has to work?

2. Is there anyway to test the whether the sensor works? ie what the resistance should be across the pins?

The wheel speed sensors are N/a from VW so would like to double check before throwing them out.

Can post up pics if it helps?

Just bash the sensors out

I doubt it will fail an mot with the sensors in. Just tell the tester that they are replacement hubs if he does question it.

can't fail an mot for haveing sensors there, they are just volantry extra unrequired sensors.  if you had the complete abs setup and it din't work that would be a bit diffrent.

sensors shoudl show a resistance of of 1-5K ohms in general  usually about 2
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
