Fuel Smell :(

 finished work today got in car put heating on when i was driving home i got a strong petrol smell coming thru the vents any ideas?? just had new exhaust fitted could it be that??

im not 100% mate but do a search a few people have had this problem..
Mk4 Golf GTI anniversary and mk6 golf tdi :)

can hear a hiss from the car so ive checked underneath seem to be blowing from the cat to the silencer could this be the cause??

cheers lads ill get it sorted tomorrow see if it changes anything smell only last few minutes just dont like the idea of petrol fumes in my car with the littlen in the back

Fuel smell will not be the exhaust, check all the fuel hoses etc.

it depends, i once had a work van with a dodgy exhaust and diesel fumes was getting into the cab, need less to say, i have a crash and almost killed myself, work say it wasnt the van but i had fallen asleep! meh!!

anyway, check your exhaust, from experiance, id say it is, that, or youve got a fuel leak, which ive also had before, lol
