layering products

evening chaps, i've been wondering 

i've been stocking up on products and have enough to get on with for now  well you cant have enough products

so i've got two polishes, megs deep crystal stage 2, and pb's proffesional polish 2

my questions are

can i layer them as i reckon the megs gives a nicer shine? but the cutting on the pb's is better so i was thinking of pb's then megs.

if i use the pb's does that take the point out of megs stage 1?

and with waxes (got natty blue and DJ light fantastic) can i layer one over the other? or is it just pointless? gonna wax with DJ, then maybe go over with natty blue? is there any benefit to this or if i do it the other way round?

and for my last question, would it be worth using natty blue on a silver gtv rather than the light fantastic? i want to natty blue it because of cost really  :embarassed:

You can't layer polishes. The two products you have got are worlds apart in terms of performance, PG Pro 2 is very abrasive, perfect for removing swirls etc by hand, but you don't want to be polishing your car with it everytime, you need something like Dodo Lime Prime, or even the original Pro Polish, these are much less abrasive. You could use the Meg's, but it's not in the same league as the other polishes.

As for layering waxes, the answer is yes. I personally would layer the same wax on top of it's self.

Natty's will be fine on the Silver

you've not seem the state of my paint  pb pro 2 cant make it worse, a brillo pad might

think i'll wait til i've finished off the megs for some more polish, as the good lady has imposed a shiney stuff ban. apparently my little girl wants stuff for christmas that isnt polish or cloths

I've actually corrected my cousins bonnet who had decided to use a brillo pad to remove bird mess

shame you can't disown family. I spent aggges trying to clean my old mans disco. only for the git to go greenlaning the minute i'd finished. 

he asked me to clean it when he got back

great advice from chris there, as he said regarding the wax layering its best to stick to one or the other for best results in the case of the waxes you have, i only time i use different waxes ontop of each other is when i use collinite 845 which doesnt give a very glossy finish so i cap it off with a layer of dodojuice to add the slick glossy finish.

Some very good advice given here on the question of layering products! Very informative tips given here about polishing and how you go about it and what to use for the different effects!! There is so much you have to know when you start out on polishing your own car and stuff like that and it may turn out to be just the opposite of what to set out to achieve if you don't do your “home work” well!!
