Uprated headgasket for my tdi 110
« on: 22 November 2010, 01:14 »
hi all after my thermostat sticking closed im having to change the headgasket on my mk4 golf gt tdi as its slightly blown. It has got the 110BHP ASV engine int it.its blwon between the water jacket and exhaust (so ive been told) as it over pressurises the cooling system and drinks water but theres no white smoke out the exhaust,no water in oil or vice versa.is there any company that makes an uprated one for this engine or would i be better off just getting an OEM one from a dealership?it is the '2 hole' version by the way.thanks
dan

ps how much more work is it to do piston rings once head is off?as my engine has 153k now an i want a remap and not sure how long it will last mapped
i think i love you.....

Standard gasket is fine for the job and for piston rings you need to dismantle the bottom end, it's a crankshaft off job.

I would seek a 2nd opinion to confirm it has gone.

As above standard gasket will be fine.
