More power from my VALVER ?
« on: 08 February 2005, 22:16 »
I am looking to get some performance gains from my mk2 valver.? Modifications done so far are K&N panel filter, drilled airbox and full stainless scorpion exhaust system.? I have read that fitting bigger throttle bodies (weber firebreather) can improve performance but to the sacrifice of fuel consuption, so im not really keen on this mod.? The other two mods i'm considering are:

1) Fitting performance cams, not sure on the performance gains form this modification or prices?? I've been told that the cams in the valver are pretty good standard.

2) Fitting a 4 branch TSR stainless manifold.? TSR claim performance benifits of 5-10 BHP for ?250.? So is this a mod worth doing?

Any suggestions welcome

Cheers

Ive fitted a 4 branch stainless manifold and it does make a noticable improvement, nothing amazing though. It also makes a funny noise! Your best bet would be to change the bottom end to a 9A 2.0 litre bottom end. This will make a hell of a difference! Ive done this also and i love it! Sooooo much torque!

Yep just fitted my TSR/Miltek 4-2-1 manifold with ss scorpion exhaust and its really good for power gains. But like above^ its better to get a 2.0l bottom end from a mk3 or passat. theres one one ebay at mo....
