ABS Pump help,please?
« on: 19 November 2010, 17:05 »
Hi folks,

I have a problem with the ECU on the ABS pump of my '97 16V,and I am looking for a bit of advice.

 The numbers I have are 1H2 614 217 E on the pump,and 3AO 907 379 E on the ECU(which I think has been superseded by 375 A)

I have seen posts mentioning some sort of list that I could refer to,to find out what other numbers are compatible, does anyone have a link for this information? The majority for sale online are listed by pump number only,And I'm not sure if the correct pump means the correct ECU.In fact there is one on this forum for sale with my pump number, but as yet I have had no reply from the poster.

I am trying to save my car from the breakers,MOT is due soon, and I need a new windscreen too,so need to keeps costs as low as possible to make it viable.

Thanks for reading, any help gratefully received.

you can use http://www.vagcat.com/epc/ to look for current numbers, but to see full part number supercession you need to find a copy of ETKA online and download it. this is the parts software VW use. its not so easy to find but if you know where to look you'll get it eventually.

looking at etka i can tell you 1H2 614 217 E does not exist :(

3A0 907 379 E has been dropped and replaced with 3A0 907 375 A like you said, and is the unit for models also equipped with an electronic diff lock.

looking at etka I think the number for the pump you need now is 1J0 698 217 A. for some reason it says ABS+EDS rather than EDL, I assume its a typo but not 100% sure.

EDS = Elec Diff Steuerung, which is another way of saying EDL (Elec Diff Lock)

My ecu says ABS/EDS.....................................
93 Golf VR6 (burgundry) - 93 Golf VR6 (silver) - Ferrari 360 Modena - Porsche 928S2 Strosek - Porsche 928GT

right, was just confused why etka would say EDL for the ECU, and EDS for the pump!
