Thanks for all the replys!

I am stick stuck on deciding to go agu and fit a k03s or just get a aum with already fitted.   With ignoring the turbo differences as I would fit one anyway on the agu.

Are there any main advantages on getting an aum or agu?
Not got my next golf yet waiting for the right one!

Coilpacks tend to be "weaker" on the AUM (i.e. they fail more often). Also the AUM has a secondary air injection (SAI) system which can be prone to faults, and also has a more complex breather pipe system for the oil vapour but i'd recommend stripping this all out out and fitting a catch can anyway.

Other than that you get the advantage of having a KO3S already bolted on and a stage 1 remap should see you right to 210bhp.

The AGU has a better flowed head IIRC than the AUM but this won't come into play until you start going beyond stage 2 mods IMO.

I drive an AUM and have no other golf to compare it to but these are the thoughts off the top of my head from being a member on here for the past couple of years.

At the end of the day i would buy whatever comes along thats in good nick with decent milage etc but if you go to look at an AGU bear in mind budgeting for the KO3S conversion on top of the buying price.

Good advice from Waffs there.
If you want to do a K03s convertion on a AGU i would make shoe you facter in the cost thats involved to do this. and if its really worth it if you can get a golf with it alread on. Also somthing eles to also consider is some of the newer MK4 had the 6 speed gear box along with the ko3s.

I thought only the anni had a 6 speed box ?
Mk4 Golf GTI anniversary and mk6 golf tdi :)

When i was thinking of ever changing mine or to spend the time swaping Turbos i looked around at what was out there. Anny was my idear but when i relised there where standerd golfs around with the K03s and 6 speed which where not Annys, the hunt was on. Found about 6 in the month i was looking around :)

Yep VWPrime is right, they do exist but were fairly rare. The AUM was never fitted with a 6-speed but the AUQ's were. The AUQ engine code is found in the anni's but was also found in some very late "normal" GTi models  :wink:

You could just buy a AGU with a ko3s already fitted and save cash that way. The 6 speed box isn't as well suited to the engine as the 5 so I've been told.....

Your looking at 250 for a second hand ko3s and 350 for a turbo swap and map to suit thats if you go with the agu mate.
spax coil overs, 18ins rs8 alloys,007 forge dv,n75j,piper cross induction, r-tech stage 2 remap, custom chromes decat exhaust + 3" down pipe, forge actuator g60 flywheel vr6 clutch, forge tip, deleted pvc catch can install,
