Good point about them not being interested due to the age of the car though, they need some real enthusiasts to work there and then the service might well get better.

I love going into the dealership. I say "I want an oil filter for a 180bhp TT" "what's the vehicle reg sir?" "D144GYN" "errr" Class.

Look idiot - just give me a filter for a 20vT, they're all the same!

It is disappointing when a good car is let down by a poor dealer.

I was lucky by the sounds of it - the dealer I used to service the PD when I had it was absolutely superb, nothing was too much toruble and they always did a spot on job.

Carrie, do you have any otrher main dealers near you? Can you give your business to someone else? I'm guessing its a new one and you're using stealership for warranty purposes? if so I would deffo consider other dealerships - in fact, take the day out and come up and use the one I did - you will definitely be impressed!!!

a cousin of mine worked for Sytner BMW in Customer Services. he would be the person you booked the car in with, and who handed you the bill. from what i know of his job, BMW UK take a big interest in all the customer departments at the franchises. each customer services rep is graded weekly and BMW UK do the follow up calls. if you want to retain your franchise then its serious sh*t.

what you need is a friend who works at vw then all becomes a lot easyer on teh parts side for your pocket and help wize.

The workshop side I tried 2 different dealers years ago and both times had a car messed up by them, so I won't even go there again for a try.

they don't like old cars!

steps unfortunatly round my way all the vw dealerships are owned by the same company as far as i know. i am going to try to find one that isnt.
thing is g6 you shouldnt have to know people to get good service vw really need to consider wether they want to stay in business and keep their repuatation.
as for old cars bmw actuaully discount the service costs for any car over four years to encourage owners to keep the service history up, i.e. the old cars are just as important to them as the new ones, which from a business point of view is good for them as well serviced and maintained cars keep the re-sale values up.
oh and we worked out that the labour rate was on par with bmw too  .

but i really think the manufacturers of certain makes need to come down on the dealers a bit if i was a car manufacturer i would rather lose a couple of bad dealers than customers.
i still mainain my point that a dealer is the representative of the car therefore if the dealer is bad your opinion of the car will be too

From my experience I wont be using BMW dealer again - only my local garage who I trust. The BMW dealer have been among the worst garage I've had the mis-pleasure of dealing with - missing obvious faults etc etc and general crap customer service - it usually take 10-15mins of holding before you can ever speak to someone and if you leave message on answer machien they never call back!

I think it is down the the individual dealers as to if good or bad rather than the specific manufacturers.
