mk4 golf gti turbo temp gauge

Hey everyone, when i drive my golf gti turbo around town the temp gauge is as normal running at 90 c dead in middle as it should, but if i enter the motorway or pick up speed it drops right down and only little heat comes out of the vents, soon as im back around town back to 90 c and hot air returns, it has climatronic system, please help thanks.

Sounds like the thermostat.

at 1st i thought it was the head gasket, but no orange around the oil cap, is the thermostat whats the size of your palm in just bolts on easy job done? i can do minor mechanics, or job for the garage? thanks.

Its located sort of underneathe the Alternator, Follow the bottom hose pipe & you will see it, The housing is fastend on with 2 Allen key Bolts

Thermostat 100%
