Be Careful what you put into Comparison sites.
« on: 15 November 2010, 10:55 »

When doing my research for my new insurance i tried various different things in confused.com to see how it would effect my payout. I took my insurance out with admiral about 2 weeks ago only to receive a letter today saying that one of the details i put in was wrong and there was an additional 280quid fee!

So i call them up and they say its because i put that i had 3 points in one of the quotes so they amused i must have them. I only put them down to see how it would effect my costs if i did get 3 points. I have now sent a copy of my drivers license to them so they can see i don't have any points.

Odd that they couldn't just ask the DVLA.... But be careful what you put into those comparison sites kids.

lol i put that i had ncb then forgot about it, went away from the computer and came back a bit later, i decidced i liked the very cheep quote (as a learner driver) 1400 a year. so i thought bargin i will set that up now.

about 5 months later the company started saying can you provide evidence of your NCB... the penny dropped. but i did get away with cheeper insurence for ages and to this day i havent had to pay it back due to the fact that the car was stolen then found then scrapped, i have no idea how i got away with that, but it just goes to show making mistakes on forms can have good and bad consiquences

Yeah most of them store your info incase you decide you want cheaper prices so you leave off the claims and points for a while

you can see their point though cant you? I mean, its a bit odd to run through a quote too see how much it would be if you had a speeding conviction unless you are expecting to get one?

I reckon in most cases (obviously not yours) where people run through a quote with and without a conviction, chances are they do have it but get tempted to non disclose by a cheaper premium in the hope the insurers wont pick up on it.....

Yeah it does make sense. There is the possibility a camera might have flashed  but no ticket so is good.

What i thought was weird was that they could not get the info from the dvla with out me have a conference call. As the dvla could not share my information.
