MK3 your diagnosis.. expertise required
« on: 07 February 2005, 17:11 »

Guys, finally got to the bottom of my rough running problem. My car returns to its usual levels of performance if I disconnect the MAF 3 pin plug. Only consequence of this is not so good idle and thirsty fuel consumption.

I can only presume that the MAF is causing the misfire and genral toiulet performance. Has anyone had a similar experience, have any thoughts on this??

cheers

I'm having a similar problem with my MKII. Before I start stripping the MAF senser apart I  think I'll try disconnecting it and see if I get the same results as you.

If it's any help I think someone is breaking a MK3 in the parts for sale section so you could get yourself a cheap second hand senser to sort your problem.
