Right my car is going in for a 2k respray and restoration but still has a set of dull steel wheels. So im looking for a set of polished porsche wheels to finish the job off. Just a few questions.

The porsche wheels are wider on the rear. Do i need to get 2 sets of front wheels so that they are all the same width?

Also the porsche wheels are 5 stud. I know i can get adaptors but will these make the wheels stick out too far? Would i be better off converting my hubs to 5 stud? If so whats involved and what do i need?

Well to start off the offset of some Porsche alloys do vary quite a bit - Design 90's are quite common and making there way on to my baby ...

These are ET52 - I've seen some that at in excess of 60 in other styles !!

Converting to the PCD of 5x112 is easy with these ickle monkeys http://www.vwspeed.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=10_19_75&products_id=84
They're the cheapest by a long way - believe me I spend hours looking on the web and hoping for that eBay bargain.

Again the width of the wheel depends on model the wheels originated, but more importantly what you buy as many second hand sets have been 'mixed and matched' in the past. Again going back to my 90's, these are 6j at the front and 8j at the rear - but again I've seen sets varying to 8j all round - some with 7's too. Just be aware of what u're getting !!

Fitting them should be easy too - unless u've lowered your ride to excess !

The adapters generally are 20mm think - so ET 52 with 20mm adapters will result in a wheel that's et32, perfect for a Golf !! Just try get some pucker low profile 195 45 16 to wrap them in to avoid scrubbage.

By 8j do you mean 8" in width?

Erm ... I'm not sure what a 'J' is a measurement of - but if it were inches that would be right  :undecided:

How much are you paying for your 90's. Are they polished? Where you getting them from?

i picked up a set of 90s for ?92 for the set 6j and 8j , the j refers i belive to the width from outer rim to inner rim ,

there are 2 sets of design 90s on ebay right now , a polished aet for ?150 and a non polished set for ?122 ,

 looks like i got a bargain  :grin:

I presume not , i dont know anyone on here thats fitted a set yet , im going for a 60mm drop so im having to roll the arches and run coil over(not a bad thing as its a track day car) but other than that i dont think theres a huge problem ,

 anyone else prove me wrong ?
