Bloody oil light and buzzer
« on: 07 February 2005, 00:19 »
The oil light and buzzer keep going off for a split second, sometimes slightly longer, however sometimes they dont go off at all? Could it be a blockage? If so would it be best if I just gave it a proper good flush and change the oil and the filter? I'm hoping theres just a blockage and nothing worse. Any help would be much appreciated before that buzzer drives me insane, or my engine seizes up

Well it wont hurt thats for sure!  Take the plugs off all your oil sensors (2 on filter housing, 1 on right side of the head) clean em up and check the wires are in good nick.

Invest in a new oil pump and an oil change.

By fitting a new pump you will have to take the sump off, so this will give you a chance to clearout 15 years of sludge and crap from the sump and ol pick up.

Will take you an hour to take sump off, clean it and the pick up, fit new pump and all back together again.

Is a worthwhile investment, as low top-end pressure will trash you engine very quickly. You'll do the whole lot for about ?150 (including oil and filter) and you will notice a real difference.
