Hard to find VAG bits, it grinds my gears....
« on: 10 November 2010, 18:00 »
I need two new dust brake shields for the Golf Gti 16V 256mm brake set up.
Can I find them for love or money NO......
GSF,ECP, VAG no items available discontinued. I can get rears but no fronts?
Does anyone else know if ATE would still be producing them or Seat even Audi might?
The problem is you can't even get them second hand as they are always rusty and butchered when they come off!

AMAZE ME AND PROVIDE ME A LINK PLEASE?

Yeah its the right part number alright, I was hoping for a domestic seller though and not VAG prices either, all it is a sheet of steel curved and could make one, but nothing like bolting on a part

ATP the hub and find out what newer cars it's used on,  find one of those that has 256mm brakes listed, lookup shild for that car and order.  one of the more boreing seat cordobas will likwly have what you need
all the VW's have gone bar 1.

Danny just got off the phone to mate from VAG he said he can get the rears @ £20 EACH for "tin."
God knows what the fronts costs, as they are bigger.
I'm trying to buy pattern parts as they are essentially tin caps and I'll just hammerite them anyway before they go on.

This.

Until you know the price don't assume they'll be expensive from SEAT or Skoda, both of whom will probably have used these brakes on their cars, although SEAT is more likely.

If you're struggling, contact Matt Neck (Beavis) on here - he works at TPS in bristol and is a very helpful sort of a chap.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

My mate who runs the part department at VAG checked with TPS for me already DH, but its obsolite (Fronts)

That link the chap gave states £9 each can't argue with that!
I reckon if TPS had them I would still be looking @ £15 each on my trade account?
I've got to splash out on four sets of discs and pads and its spanking the wallet at the moment

Ah but Beavis is a sly and cunning cross-referencer.

£10 says the steel will be better than the pattern ones.
