Were the Phillips Extreme's any good, much difference etc?

I'm tempted to get some or the Osram Nightbreakers ( as they just came out on top in Autoexpress ).

Compared to the standard fit candles they are a vast improvement (fitted in an Audi  A3 mind)

Someone has mentioned on the HID thread that there is a new law coming out next year regarding headlights and a possible MOT failure. Have you investigated whether these will pass the new law, else it could be a costly purchase?
Just a thought.....

I had PIAAs back in 93 for foglights ($350 back then)and they were great and purchased the yellow bulbs($80) for my GTIs fogs.... Nokya sells some for about $50 less and are yellow also.  I will probably get the PIAA bulbs for my headlights that are legal or not.

I've used the PIAA "No error" side light bulbs in my Leon FR, very good but expensive

I use Nightbreakers all round inc fogs & they are great, better than the Philips I tried before.

Iv got some 5000k H7 bulbs in mine and they are brilliant. I fitted them to my high beam aswell so  I dont have a yellow high beam "flash". They look brilliant (almost like xenons which start off at 6000k I think?).

I can take pics but not to sure how well they will come out at night?

I'm gonna upgrade my bulbs too, apparently the forum code still works with powerbulbs.com it's AYSCX1729
I'm torn by which ones to go for though Nightbreakers or philips Extreme power???


EDIT: Just ordered some Osram Nightbreakers with free w5w sidelights and an extra 10% off with the code. £25 Result!!!

At least I had something to do whilst having my fag this evening Even made a video to try and show it better (click on the bottom image).





I cant 100% confirm they are legal but cant see why not as they are not actual HIDs which as I said earlier Im pretty sure starts at 6000k, these are 5000k so just under. I asked the owner over at TuningWerks what one he uses as he also runs a MK5 and these are what he has so if he has them on his car Id like to think they are indeed legal. They are a thousand times better than the "upgraded" Philips ones I had in before.

I also have the Philips BlueVision W5W lights in aswell which are better than the standard ones but still only OK, really you need LED ones with built in resistor.
