help ?!?
« on: 07 November 2010, 14:14 »
last night on my way back from yorkshire, i was driving down the motorway at a steady 70mph, when i put my foot down the car seem to lose its boost (could barly make it over 80mph and it started slowing down up hills) but when i opened my window to listen if the engine sounded different, it was fine, could still hear the turbo and the engine, no change ? then after driving another 10 miles with not much power, i put my foot down again and the boost was back ? i had the power again. so i have not got any idea what this could be, if any1 else has had this problem, or knows what i could do to fix this? its only happened yesterday on the motorway and today around town, but seems to correct itself after driving around ?

somebody told me it could be turbo vanes sticking ?? but i arnt to sure what that is lol

The person who told you that doesn't know what he's talking about, if the turbo impeller was sticking it wouldn't make any noise whatsoever or it would grind against the housing, sounds more like the car going into limp mode, maf problem or boost hoses.

I was going to say check the hoses, definatelty sounds like a lose in boost pressure if you can still hear the turbo, maybe a spilt in a pipe that opens under pressure.

Agree with this one, it does sound like a boost leak, once you have checked you boost pipes then move onto your maf sensor. You can usally clean the maf sensor but really careful with this as you could casue more damage. Have you got any electrical spray clean or bike carb spray?

thanks for the comments folk
i will get my car up on jacks and stands tommorow if its dry, and have a good look see what is going on, if there is no lose connection in the pipes or rips, i will have to look at other things, is there anythin on a turbo, like sensors that could go wrong, ive bin having a look on the internet, and the "MAP sensor" and "EGR" valve keeps coming up in different forums,

ive heard of VAGCOM can this pinpoint my problem ??
