So why dont you get you old mans name you on a third party mini or what we used to do was buy a wreck not drivable, with insurance you can allways get and wait a year for a years no claims discount I would wait?

my area isn't the best, I live right by r-tech, the insurance is my policy with parents as named drivers, both have over 25+ years driving, 25+ years ncb, no incidents or points ever, most my friends pay well over £2000 for insurance, I was chuffed when I got a quote of £990, have had a quote of £12,000 but that was on a sierra cossie 
don't forget that 17-25 year old insurance (especially male) has gone up alot recently and my dad won't let me go on his insurance incase I have an accident and it affects him.

I feel for you luke and other young drivers it seems that a car is defo a luxury these days than necessity?
How about a 2 stroke 125CC motor bike?

the golf wasn't my first car, had a paper round when I was 14 (not going to lie, I still help my dad do it each week, £10 for a hours walk is great!), I bought a 97 p reg astra 1.6 s, paid £125 and sold next week for £325, even though the lad I sold it to got caught driving with no tax or mot or insurance and now it's a tin can

No shame earning for a living, you seem to be on the right track mate, I'm still shocked about the cost today for young drivers! When I got my first insurance quote back in 1990 it was £800 third party on a Fiesta 1.1 canary yellow LOL! They fetch good money now

hope it does go down, my only problem is that I go college and will have to find work on the days i don't just to pay for my car and have no money left for clothes or any other luxurys..
