door handle problem??

hey peeps, havent taken off the door panel yet to investigate further, but when i pull the door handle its  almost like the whole lot comes out the door, the seperate bit next to the handle with the lock in it sort of comes out as well, what is this, is it the backing plate missing or something??

Sounds like the screw has dropped out!, open the door, and have a look on the inside edge of the door, inline with the handle, there should be a Posi-drive screw with a M6 thread..

nice one thanks thom. i will have a look tomorow at some point, yea it is pretty loose, i wouldnt be surprised if somethings missing

Check the other screw while your at it, remove the cover that runs the length of the handle, smaller screw is at the other end, the cover just pulls off with the help of a small screwdriver, and snaps back into place..

looking at the facebook pics, it seems his car has mk3 handles...

is that the cover on the outside of the door, like the one that you can have black or chrome??

Mk3 handles, just the one screw in the door shut, and no cover to remove iirc

No.. just open the door, and look at the door frame, all become clear
