Hi there,

Had my Golf GTI Mk5 remapped by R-Tech yesterday, who by the way are clearly incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and care about your car, highly recommended and worth the trip from Leeds.

Anyway, a healthy dose of extra BHP was added but it is a bit down on torque, with boost in the midrange being a bit low.

R-tech have suggested trying a new N75 valve, just wondering:

1. If there is anywhere to get them for the mk5 GTI other than the main stealer?
2. Are they easy to DIY fit?
3. Are there different types (from looking at forums on mk4 there are different types) and which should I get?

Thanks for your help in advance!

Regards,

John

I think your dealer will be the only source that will get you one now.

As for installation, it's said to be a b!tch because of where it's located.

It is relatively easy to fit, just in an awkward place on the underside of the car as Bacillus says. If you have access to a ramp and can get the lower cover off the car, then yes it is a DIY jobbie. Heads up if you have it fitted at a VW dealership as it shouldn't take them more than 1/2 an hours labour tops!!
