Mk6 owners with lowering springs.
« on: 29 October 2010, 11:32 »
Just a quick question to all those that have lowering springs fitted, regardless of make. Were your suspension top mounts/bearings replaced at the same time? If not have they needed to be replaced since fitting the springs? Any knocks/noises from that sort of area while driving?

Nothing to be worried about, i've just noticed on a couple of occasions now the original factory moulded rubber mountings don't seem to last very long once the geometry is changed even if they appear to be in "as-new" condition. VW using cheaper materials methinks

Never felt the need to change them as the car is so new. Never had any problems either but only done a few thousand miles with them, time will tell I guess. I more worry about how the standard shocks hold up.

Mine were fitted as the car was being PDI'd...so no wear to look for.
No problems since, no noises etc.

Reducing my Golf count by the week....

20k done on the springs and no problems to report. Have had some knocking since the lower wishbone mounts where done, but this is being checked when the KW v3's are fitted in the next couple of weeks.
