Clay warming?
« on: 25 October 2010, 12:37 »
Should I warm the clay before I try and use it?

Thought about wrapping it in cling film and putting it into some hot water. Just to make it a bit more malleable.

What do you think?

just warm it up in your hands by molding/kneading it

depends on what clay you have? there clay that is like bluetac, elasticy, and clay thats more like playdo, the elasticy types of clay will be fine in warm water but havent tryed the playdo type in warm water. but as guy said just warm it in your hands, stretch it out and keep folding it and moulding it until its really warm then crack on with it.

As rightly said, we have to first know what kind of clay you are talking about as they are many kinds that are available in the market and each need different methods to use - but as suggested, just keep kneading them in your hands, that should do the trick in most situations!! They are so many types of clay in the markets for different purposes and most of them will have directions on them on how to use it!!
