I have to sell my MK 6 GTI booo! - any advice appreciated

Hi all

I have a new job starting in the new year.  They will give me a brand new GTD with all fuel paid so not worth keeping my GTI (and there's not one on the company car list!)

So I have between now and Jan to sell my MK6 GTI. (which I love by the way!)

I have already had a quote from VW but its a whole lot less than the 26K I paid in June.

Anyone any tips?  Thanks in advance.

(MK6 GTI in black, DSG, full leather, Sat nav, heated seats, Monza shadows, parking sensors front and back - 11500 miles - perfect condition)

You will always get more selling it privately. Look on Autotrader, there are a few on there, it will give you some idea of what you can ask for it.
The mileage is very high for a 4 month old car, so you will have take that into account.

Put it on pistonheads classifieds things often shift quickly on there.
Also try more than one dealer for a price, maybe try EVO on here see if he offers a better price it depends how quick you want shot of it.

Sorry. neglected to say that I bought it 4 months ago on a Sept 2009 plate so mileage good!
VW sold it to me for 26k
Autotrader quote tells me max from dealer is 21,750 and max from private is 22,850
I prefer to sell back to the garage as can't stand people kicking my tyres!

Jon,

Can you take a car allowance rather than a company car? That way you get to keep the GTi and they might still pay (partly) for your fuel.....?
Just a thought.....

How much have they offered you for it?

Sometimes it's best to sell to the dealer and cut out the tyrekickers / testdrives etc
