MKII What next
« on: 01 February 2005, 20:17 »
I have a 1991 MK II golf. I have no idea abouts its history -
I have had to replace the exhaust - square away an oil and a coolant leak change my front windscreen change the oil and coolant changed the timing belt.

Wonder if there is anything else i need to do - I'm a brit in Germany,  land of VW so i can get loads of parts cheap.

Checked brake pads and disks they look ok - I'm a complete novice but have good mechanics as friends and i have fallen in love with the car and lookin on here u boys have done a great job and cant wait for the summer to start - too cold to do much now.

I also have a large scratch on the bonnet how can i find out the exact colour and could i repair it myself - also think i would like to respray the whole car is the expensive? Sorry for so many questions just dying to get started. Andy

the paint code should be in the boot under the carpet

resprays are totally up to the bodyshop in question. call a few up and talk.

if you're bored start stripping bits off the engine and polish like buggery

the problem with getting the bonnet repainted is that it needs to blend with the wings. its usually cheaper & easier to find a 2nd hand bonnet of the same colour and fit that!
