Smoked lamps
« on: 01 February 2005, 13:47 »
I want to replace all the lamps on my car (rear lights, side repeaters and front indicators) with smoked equivalents but was wondering which ones offer the best quality/price combination???
Here's what I've found:

SWG motorsport: Rear lights ?104.95 pair, side repeaters ?22.90 pair, front indicators ?29.95 pair.
Eurocarparts: Rear lights ?49.90 pair, side repeaters ?9.99 pair, front indicators ?18.16 pair.

Obviously there is a massive price difference here so I'm wondering how the quality compares, I don't mind paying for quality.
Has anybody else replaced all their lights and if so where did you buy them? how much were they? and what was the quality/fit like?

Cheers
Toby

Buying from shows is a good idea as you get to see the quality of the product for yourself

Your rear lights are already the smoked ones!

Good point John it may be worth waiting to inters (although I did want to carry out most of my cosmetic adjustments by then). I currently have the standard half-tint hellas, I want completely smoked lamps to keep the different colours on the car to a minimum.

I'd stick with half smokes on the back. goes the best with oak green imo.

The rears will be definately be the last to be replaced (due to price) so I may wait until inters and have a look at a few to decide whether I really prefer them over the half tints. Think I'm definately going ahead with the front indicators and side repeaters though. I think they look awful in orange!!!

I cot clear front indicators from ebay which were fine, but the repeaters I got were shocking.  In the end I got my repeaters from http://www.type-911.co.uk and they are spot on, really good quality and look top notch.  You want the Porsche 911 ones, if unsure give em a call the guy knew exactly what I was on about when I asked for MK2 ones  :)

Make sure you take the orange filters out of the indicators and fit the chromed bulbs instead, looks so much better!

i bought a few sets off euro car parts and they were fine, in fact i've still got the side repeaters after about ...4 years? my mate has also bought the same from german and swedish and they are just as good. i'd go for either of them. you get some right crap at inters and for decent stuff you wont beat the price of ECP or GSF by alot. the side repeaters that i got from them are inpro who are reputable in anyones book i'd say.
