Mk3 1.8 SE
« on: 20 October 2010, 23:23 »
Hey all, new to this forum so apologies if i say anything that may seem obvious to you all

Made my mind up and decided i want a 1.8 Mk3 SE

However i have a few questions and if some of you would be able to answer these it would be very much appreciated :)

1. Tires
Would like some 16" alloys, unsure which, however i would like to know if you can fit 205/r16 wheels on a mk3 1.8? (i know the rim diameter isnt an issue, more the tire width) and if so would i need spacers?

2. Suspension
Does aftermarket suspension for say a 2.0 GTi 8v/16v or VR6 also fit a 1.8?

3. Exhaust
Same as above really, are GTi and VR6 aftermarket components compatible?

4. Any tips on what brands to get? was thinking Scorpion for cat back system, and unsure about suspension, coilovers if i can afford it

any other advice would be much appreciated as im brand new to the VW tuning scene

Nope should be fine 195/45/16 or 205/45/16 is the correct size tyres, you also need to make sure the wheels have a offset of 35.

2. Suspension, does aftermarket suspension for say a 2.0 GTi 8v/16v or VR6 also fit a 1.8?:
Yes 2.0 8 or 16v will be ok, Vr6 is no good on a 4 cyl car.

Will need sleeving

4. Any tips on what brands to get? was thinking Scorpion for cat back system, and unsure about suspension, coilovers if i can afford it:
Do a search lots of theads on these subjects.

What makes you want a 1.8se, why not go for a 2.0 8v GTI :undecided:
