Fiscon Or VW Bluetooth
« on: 20 October 2010, 13:19 »
Hi All,

I have to get my bluetooth through a specific installer because it's a company car and this guy is an absolute pain, but there is now a posibilty that I can get something from the VW dealer that supplied the car. I'd originally asked the installer for the Fiscon Plus back in June, but since I still don't have it, I contacted Ridgeway VW in Newbury last week for a quote for them to install it. I'll mention their name, because I'm not trying to name and shame them, I'm just asking a question!

The person I spoke to didn't know about the new version of the VW Bluetooth kit that supports the non-rSAP phones (I'm a blackberry user) although I didn't have the part number to hand (which I believe is "7p6 035 730C"), but said that they recommend and install the Fiscon kit at the moment and can do it easily for me (blah, blah, blah).

My question before I just order it is should I be pushing for the VW kit now? Is it much better than the Fiscon one? I seem to get mixed information from the things I'm reading. The installer that not been able to supply it is telling me there is some known bug with the microphone and that dealers are refusing to supply him with the kit because of this, but I've heard nothing of the sort?.

I should add that I have the RCD-510 (with Dynaudio, not that I think that's important) and I never ordered any factory fit bluetooth prep, so I assume I don't have a microphone already in place etc (but since it's a company car, I've not cracked open anything to check). It's a full UK spec (obviously!) so the RCD-510 has the phone button. With the VW bluetooth kit, do I get all the on screen stuff on the RCD, because everything I've read says no, but they are all talking about US versions with no phone button.

Help! I can't live much longer with out handfree bluetooth (and whilst I have a TomTom with handfree, it's pretty poor!)

Thanks,

James.

I can supply your dealer the brand new VW premium bluetooth part number 3C8 035 730A plus a plug and play harness,  if you have to have a specific company to fit it then I can send it to them for cheaper than what the dealer will even get the module for,

Ill supply for £275

Alternative if you can get your employer to speak to me Ill supply fit and code it for £300

Cheers

Darren

Hi Darren,

Thanks for the info. I have to go through Ridgeway VW in Newbury and I need their full warranty to back it up. Do you think they will be able to do that with a kit from you? Have you supplied any offical VW dealers?

Thanks,

James.

I've just got rid of my MK6 so removed and am selling the the VW basic plus Fiscon unit, £350 odd from Fiscon, £199 posted.

Great unit, had it for a year and been very happy with it, very simple to fit.
