Using Kiwi Scuff Coat on your bumpers/plastics
« on: 31 January 2005, 17:23 »
before i always used Autoglym bumper care (more like green snot) and it was good but only ever lasted about 3weeks tops. so i'd heard alot about using Kiwi Scuff Coat that you use on leather shoes!!

so off i went to Tesco and purchased a bottle @ ?1.69

applied it on saturday, it can be a bit messy if you put too much on the applicator sponge but it wipes off paintwork easily and even easier when dry.

i found going over all where applied with a cloth before it dried got rid of any streak marks.

as an overall result i really am pleased with it, no pics as such but lets just say it looks spanking new and has a perfect matt finish to it, and doesnt wipe off on your hand or clothes - just have to see how long it lasts but from reading what others say it'll last the guts of 3mths!!

so there u go, just my thoughts on it all!!

I saw the Black Shoe Polish tip on one of those short 5 min programmes. Can't recall the name.

The chauffers on there recommended kiwi shoe polish.

Never tried it myself but will have a go at some point.?

Nice tip, I too have been using Autoglym stuff. When using the Kiwi Scuff Coat, should i remove the autoglym first? or just put it straight on top?

Clean it up as best you can, otherwise it makes it more difficult to get a good finish.  I should know I just wacked it straight on top

Dont worry if it looks streaky at first, just keep putting coats on and eventually it'll look mint!

Bit of a crap picture but, top = when I bought it, middle = autoglym & bottom = kiwi

after you've washed n dried the bumpers give them a wipe with white spirit to remove any residues

this sounds dodgy as hell but works. next time you change your oil, keep some of the sh!tty old oil and rub it on your plastic bits, leave for a while and rub off anyexcess. when it dries it leaves your bumpers black for ages..........and its free!!!
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post
